Miyagi Sayuri "Rhythm of Life" 9.1.2001
Miyagi Sayuri is a singer-songwriter from Okinawa, Japan's southernmost islands with a subtropical climate and their own distinctive culture. Miyagi started her career by singing adverts and theme songs for radio. She then joined a gospel group called Voice of Japan. In 1997 she left to pursue a solo career. "Rhythm of Life" is her debut mini album, full of Okinawan flavor. "I simply wanted to make an album that is deeply rooted in my home island. So all the songs are about Okinawa. Okinawa is the place where you feel a strong spiritual power. Life there harmonizes well with nature – the flows of wind and water", says Miyagi. Expert shinsen (3-stringed Okinawan instrument) player Ara Yukito appears as a special guest.
